Two addresses were raided in Thomastown, as well as one in Bundoora and one in Greensborough.
Police used explosives to force their way into the Hells Angels' Lipton Drive clubhouse about 8am.
Supt Doug Fryer said police were looking for guns and drugs.
Sniffer dogs were used to search the clubhouse, which from the outside looks a cross between a medieval castle and funpark ghosthouse.
The entry gate remains twisted and wrecked from the explosive police entry.
The three other residential properties were simultaneously raided across Melbourne's north, with a quantity of cannabis recovered from one address.
A senior member of the Nomads chapter was arrested at a home and is assisting police.
Supt Fryer said the raids were in response to a series of violent attacks by members of the chapter using weapons.
"They involve extreme violence involving firearms," he said.
Supt Fryer refused to elaborate on further specifics of the assaults.
"They are assaults that occurred within Victoria and relatively recently," he said.
Supt Fryer said members of the club had offered no resistance during or after the raids.
No police or members of the public were injured during the raids.
It comes two weeks after the revelation that Victoria Police had launched the dedicated Echo Taskforce to investigate outlaw bikie gangs.
Supt Fryer said the raids were all connected to the Hells Angels.
Pistols, revolvers, shotguns, tasers and drugs had been seized in previous raids.
It is believed more than 4000 bikie gang members operate across the state through 24 rival gangs owning 56 clubhouses.
The Echo Taskforce has been formed to target bikie crimes, disrupt criminal activity by the groups and stamp out intimidation of the public.
Authorities have linked bikies to nightclubs, prostitution and trucking as well as a litany of crimes, including murder.
