Hells Angels case has twist

New York woman indicted in a conspiracy plot to frame a government witness is planning on becoming a government witness herself, the woman’s attorney said Monday.

Nicole Brooks, 21, is facing kidnapping, conspiracy and gun charges for her role in an August 2010 plot allegedly masterminded by local Hells Angels member Adam L. Hall to discredit Pittsfield resident David Glasser.

Hall, 34, of Peru, allegedly set up Glasser to take the fall for a fabricated crime in New York in order to prevent him from testifying in an assault, drugs and weapons case involving Hall.

Berkshire Assistant District Attorney Gregory Barry says Brooks lied to New York State Police, telling them that Glasser had robbed her at gunpoint in Wells, N.Y., on Aug. 14, 2010. A gun and Brooks’ wallet were planted in Glasser’s vehicle, Barry said.

Glasser initially was charged with various crimes, but later was cleared of any wrongdoing.

Hall is set to go to trial in September, and Brooks plans to testify against him. She already appeared as a witness in Hall’s grand jury proceeding, her attorney, Timothy Farris, said in court on Monday.

Brooks, a resident of Scotia, N.Y., appeared in Berkshire Superior Court with Farris and had her bail reduced by Judge Mary-Lou Rup.

Brooks’ bail was set at $75,000 cash or $750,000 bond at her arraignment last November. She has been in the Berkshire County

Jail & House of Correction since then.
Rup reduced her bail to $5,000 cash with the conditions that she check in by phone with the Berkshire County Probation Office three days a week and sign a waiver of extradition.

Brooks was planning to return home to New York, and the waiver helps guarantee she will return to Massachusetts.

"I want to come back ... I absolutely want to finish this," she said Monday in court.

The bail was paid, and Brooks was released.

Two other defendants allegedly involved in the plot -- Scott Langdon, 45, and Alexandra M. Ely, 21, both of Pittsfield -- have pending cases.
